Specifications for RPD Light Machine Gun
(Belt-fed, Semi-Auto Rifle), 7.62 x 39mm
The RPD Light Machine Gun (Ruchnoy Pulemyot Degtyaryova, or hand-held machine gun of Degtyaryov) is a 7.62 x 39mm caliber support weapon developed in the Soviet Union by renown designer Vasily Degtyaryov who also designed the DP28, DPM, DA, DT, DShK, PPD and PTRD. The Soviets used it well into the 1970s as a main line, infantry support weapon and it was officially replaced by the RPK in the early 1960s.
Popular with Saddam's soldiers, the RPD provided the hard hitting firepower for light support in addition to the domestically produced Al Quds RPK Light Machine Gun. They were imported from every country that made them but never produced by Saddam. It was the main supporting machine gun in the Iran-Iraq War. The weapon also proved popular with insurgents during Iraqi Freedom who used it for heavy fire in ambushes.
Two Rivers Arms semi-auto RPD rifles are built on demilled parts from Poland and Egypt. These rifles have been re-engineered on ATF approved designs to shoot only semi-autotomatic, making them legal to own, belt-fed rifles.
Like the original guns, Two Rivers RPDs are hot blued for a spectacular finish. Polish built parts will usually have original barrels.
Two Rivers RPD rifles have matching numbered parts (while available) with original wood and are serialed to match on DSA receivers. Two Rivers also takes the extra milling steps to preserve original serial numbers on the lower receiver rather than lopping them off like most manufacturers and builders (see above photo underneath the gun).
With semi-automatic internal compliant parts and many with new barrels, the external appearance remains consistent with the actual military rifles.
For an optional fee, an arms room stock number in Arabic can be painted on your choice colors such as red, white, blue, and black circles with various colored numbers.
Each Rilfe comes with a 50-round belt, a drum, cleaning rod and a sling. Additional items such as drums, belts, pouches and cleaning kits are subject to availability. |
